Feeding The Five Thousand
03/28/2010
08:00 am - 12:00 pm
Food Distribution Day
Sunday, March 28
WE STILL NEED YOU….
· You can still sponsor one or more boxes of food and supplies for $20 per box at the table in the foyer. If you cannot afford to buy a box, you can deliver one or more boxes that have been paid for by others. If you cannot deliver a box on March 28, you can purchase one or more boxes that can be delivered by others.
· Don’t miss the opportunity to share the gospel with a hurting family. Along with the boxes, we will give a gospel tract that will explain the greatest act of service — Jesus’ death on the cross.
· Each box will be labeled with a family’s address, where it is to be delivered. If you know a family in need, you can deliver to them as well.
Instead of rushing off to lunch, we’re encouraging our church members to take this afternoon to practice expressive evangelism. Hundreds of Blackshear Place families will become local missionaries as we literally try to feed 5,000 people on one day. It’s as simple as picking up a box of food and delivering it to a family in need in our community. By providing food, we will have an open door to share the love of Jesus with these families and invite them to hear the Good News on Easter. This event is sure to be a highlight during the Year of Serve and make an impact in many lives across our community.

Top Ten Questions About Feeding the 5,000
1. Why are we doing this as a church?
The Year of Serve is all about “being Jesus with skin on.” We want to show the love of Christ as an opportunity to share the gospel. Feeding the 5,000 will give us a door to present the gospel. When we take a box of food to a hurting family, they will naturally wonder why. We can share with them that Jesus loves them and so do we. We will also be giving them a gospel tract that will explain the greatest act of service —THE CROSS.
2. Who should be a part of Feeding the 5,000?
Everyone. We want every family to have an opportunity to participate. Even our children can hand someone a box of food and a tract.
3. How much does it cost?
The food is given at no charge to the families in need; however, we are asking our church family to help underwrite the cost to the church. It was King David who proclaimed, “I will not sacrifice to the LORD my God offerings that cost me nothing” (2 Samuel 24:24). Donations of all amounts will be accepted- no donation is too large or too small. If you cannot donate funds, please don’t let that stop you from serving. We also need help delivering the boxes of food to families in need.
4. What if I can’t deliver the box on March 28?
If you cannot help deliver food, would you consider sponsoring a box of food for a family? You can drop by the registration table in the foyer to sign up to sponsor a family.
5. Who will I be taking the box to?
When you pick up the box on March 28, it will be labeled with a family’s address, where it is to be delivered. We have contacted several community groups that help families in need, and they have provided a listing of families in our area. If you know a family in need, you can submit their information at the registration table in the foyer.
6. Do I have to provide the contents of the box?
No. We have ordered pre-packaged boxes of food and supplies that we will distribute on March 28. Everything will be provided for you and be ready for delivery.
7. When and where do I pick up the boxes?
You will be able to pick up boxes from noon to 6 pm on Saturday, March 27 and from 8 am to 3 pm Sunday, March 28. A large tent will be set up in the lower parking lot beside Building D. Volunteers will be there to make sure you get everything you need and know where to deliver your box. You can deliver boxes anytime on Sunday, March 28. We have canceled all afternoon and evening activities to give you time to deliver to as many families as you’d like.

8. How can I register and pay?
A registration table has been set up in the foyer for you to register and pay. You also can come by the church office or on by clicking register below.
